The Gun Violence Archive, a database that collects information about shootings from across the U.S., reported that, in Houston, 66 people have been injured after being shot, since November 1, with 195 people in Texas wounded in shootings.

According to CBS affiliate KHOU11, the driver allegedly got into an altercation with the passengers who tried to change drop-off locations.

When officers arrived at the location of the shooting, they found the driver had been shot in the hip, NBC affiliate KPRC2 reported.

Houston police told the network that the driver was transported to a nearby hospital by emergency officials working with the Houston Fire Department. The man is said to be in a stable condition.

Houston Police Department (HPD) investigators said the passengers had initially asked to be taken to a gas station on Quitman but demanded to be taken to another location when they arrived.

When the Uber driver refused, the suspect opened the driver’s door and held a gun to his leg.

The suspect demanded the driver’s phone and car and was shot when he refused, police told KPRC2.

Police said the shooter fled the scene on foot, and an investigation has since been launched to uncover who the suspect is.

As of Tuesday morning, the HPD has not said whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Newsweek has contacted the HPD for comment.

In April, an Uber driver was reportedly shot through the car seat by a passenger in Philadelphia.

The shooting happened on Cobbs Creek Parkway at Delancy Street in West Philadelphia just before 10 p.m.

Philadelphia police officers said the driver, said to be a man in his 50s, had been driving a passenger who, at one point during the journey, allegedly shot him through the driver’s side car seat, in what police described as an attempted carjacking.

The victim then got out of the car while the suspect fled the scene of the shooting. Police said the victim was shot under the armpit and that the bullet went through his chest.

He was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center, where police said the victim was in a critical, but stable condition.
