Bhutan to charge Indian tourists Rs 1,200 per day
Bhutan Ambassador Major General Vetsop Namgyel said on September 23 that the Bhutan government has decided to charge Indian tourists Rs 1200 per day.
He said: “Tourism council did a review of policies to find out if we have to keep Bhutan as a high/low volume tourist destination. For Indian tourists Rs 1200 per day will be charged by the Bhutanese govt Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).”
Ambassador Namgyel added: “I don’t think that (Doklam issue) has to do anything with the tourism industry. The tourism industry functions away from the border. Tourists go for trekking routes and that will not be affected.”
